Penalty for stealing from stores like CVS?

I was just wondering, what is penalty for stealing from stores like CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, etc.? I don't mean big stuff, just stuff under like 50 bucks. Do they call the cops and take you to jail? Do they take your picture? Does the penalty vary with age (child, teenager, adult)? If it was a child or teenager, do the parents get called?

I stole a $5 tube of make up from a drug store (Long's) when I was 14. They caught me, called the cops and I was arrested and taken to juvie.
Reply:It does not matter how expensive the item is that you stole, you could be charged with a felony--burglary for instance, which has a minimum prison sentence of one year where you will get gang raped, beaten, and humiliated.

And, if someone happens to die during the commission of your felony because your actions somehow caused their death (i.e. chasing you and dying of a heart attack, tripping and cracking open their head, etc.) you could be looking at Second Decree Felony Murder which could land you jail for life where you will get gang raped, beaten, and humiliated.

Best advice you'll ever get, do not steal. The trouble you could get into can far exceed your intentions. You might think you are only committing a petit misdemeanor, like shoplifting, but the cops and prosecutor could see it differently.
Reply:Under $50 they usually fine you $350. If it is a child the police is automatically called. Also you better have ID and no drugs on you or they call the cops. I have seen a bunch of idiots refuse to cooperate and then they call the cops. If cops are called it will go on your police record.
