I don't have any CVS stores in my area, but knowing it's a pharmacy type store, they don't sell just sim cards.
Most pharmacies however, do sell those prepaid phone cards to go along with prepaid phones. They also most likely sell a prepaid phone with an INCLUDED prepaid sim (like a T-mobile prepaid kit). I guess you can get a prepaid sim that way.
If you're looking for just a sim card, lots of people sell them cheap on ebay. They're probably previously activated with a phone number with a different area code, but you can alway reactivate and change that.
