Whats the difference between cvs make up and mac make up?

is there really a difference???? i use whatever is on sale and notice lately that my eyes look tired and stuff. by using the more expensive make up will that help?

Whats the difference between cvs make up and mac make up?
You are truly blessed to be able to wear any makeup!!!!! Many people (including myself) break out with many of the makeups in drugstores like Revlon, Cover Girl, etc. Many of the more expensive department store brands, like Mac or Estee Lauder, offer their products without harsh chemicals, dyes or perfumes. Sometimes they come in a better variety of shades to match different skin tones, and I noticed that Bobbi Brown has a foundation that covers like no other. I say if your makeup is lasting all day, gives you the coverage you want, and isn't making you break out, by all means use it!!! Consider yourself one of the lucky ones, not even Neutrogena us safe on my face. :(
Reply:MAC makeup claims to be made of better, more natural ingredients, but I have tried both the expensive makeup and the $2.99 Cover Girl stuff, and I can honestly say it doesn't really make a difference at all. In fact, the mascara I got at Wal-Mart (Great Lash by Maybelline) stays on and looks better than the $19.00 Smashbox kind I bought at Sephora.
Reply:the difference is about $20.

If you look up a lot of cosmetic companies you'll find they are owned by the same parent company. Also, if you look at the cosmetics cases, you'll notice they are very similair. It is like figuring out that Peter Pan and Wal-mart peanut butter are the same (the jar is the same shape / size).

For instance: Loreal owns Lancome, Kehl's, Biotherm, Maybelline, Garnier, and Matrix (among others).

Estée Lauder owns Aveda, Bobbi Brown, Clinique,

Estée Lauder, MAC Cosmetics, Origins, and Prescriptives (among others).

Revlon's brands include Revlon, Almay, Ultima II, Flex, and Charlie.

Proctor %26amp; Gamble owns Max Factor, Covergirl, Noxema, Olay, and Clairol.

So... if you have a department store brand that you like a lot, the odds are good that there is a drug store brand that is almost the same to it!
Reply:CVS makeup is crap.

MAC makeup is amazing, its not even a splurge compaired to Dior or Chanel.

if you use MAC get LIGHT shades and not the blues or pinks that look bright ( they come out the same way they are in the container) unless your scene/emo/glam goth i would stick with the lightest shades from MAC

another pro about MAC is that on there webcite they have this thing called "Live Chat" and you talk to an actuall makeup artist and they tell you what shades to use and all your other questions they awnser amazingly
Reply:i also use whats cheap..the best mascara ive ever used i got at the dollar store..but YES mac is worth every penny it costs. go to a mac retailer and have one of the artists do your face. You pay them $40, they do your face, then you select $40 worth of products...so its like you get a free makeover when you spend $40 on products..The artists can help you select the colors and techniques that will look best on you.
Reply:maybe its just the way you are aplying the makeup or that you are tired.
Reply:its not about the price at all its about what kind of makeup is right for you which is the best for your skin which ones goes best with your skin tone eye color all that thats what u should go by
Reply:um duh mac is good
Reply:Supposedly the reason those brands are more expensive is because they have more expensive, nicer ingredients. Personally, I don't see that much of a difference, but I would go with Neutrogena or Loriel instead of a store brand.

If your eyes are looking tired, make sure your getting enough sleep, exfoliating, and moisturizing and make sure you always remove your makeup. Besides those things, it could be the makeup.

I only use department store brands for foundation and concealer. And a lot of the eyshadow and mascara I use comes as free samples when I buy foundation.

Mac makeup is really nice and expensive. It's one of the most high-pigmented makeups available. If you just want eye-shadow - there is a huge market of sales of sample sizes on ebay. And since their colors are so intense and powerful, a sample size will probably work, and they can range about five-ten dollars depending on the color - opposed to 20-30 dollars for the full-size.
Reply:the quality. cvs sells low priced make up for those who can't afford to spend their $ on high quality make up like mac, chanel, dior, etc
