How much does it cost to fix CVS joints?

You didn't mention WHY you think it's the CV joints, are you sure that's it? This last week i fixed an ongoing problem with a Grand Am that i thought was a CV joint problem - i even coresponded with a few "Answers" users who gave me some tips. When i was looking at them with the vehicle raised up though, i found out that the bearings in the right wheel hub were shot - long story short , i replaced the wheel hub , no more problem , it never WAS the CV joints. see?

CV joints and axle assemblies on most cars are around 79 bucks at discount parts stores rebuild with both new joints and lifetime warranty. Unless you have a wierd vehicle they can usually be put in for less than a hundred bucks. We have charged 65 for one or 50 each if doing both axles at the same time. Plus the 79 buck axles of course. :-) A few cars have to be realigned after doing this as the camber has to be set on some.
Reply:CVS is a Drug store. CV (Constant Velocity) joints cost about $75 to $150 a piece depending on the vehicle. To have someone fix them at shop is between $500 to $700.
Reply:go to your local parts store or just call around and find the cheapest price. if your not going to install them yourself call various repair facilities and get the cheapest price. might try a local vo tech or high school auto shop also.
Reply:go with the axel guy it will vary on year make model,better job faster and hes right about the alignment also
