Why are Walgreens and CVS pharmacies always right across the street from each other?

Because both companies' market research departments came to the conclusion that the same general location would be the best spot for a pharmacy. It doesn't matter that a direct competitor is located right across the street. A retailer will lose more customers if they are in a bad location than if a competitor is next door.

Why are Walgreens and CVS pharmacies always right across the street from each other?
I dont know exact details but in my area Ft Worth,,TX,, a run down intersection bulldozed all old buildings and offered the spaces with tax cuts to rebuild new buildings. So we got Subway, Cvs Walgreen and a major gas station on that section. At another just few blocks away Wal Mart market and Cvs are across from each other. *mamatx
Reply:It's called Competition! Each one is trying to gain the Monopoly on this industry....Discusting, huh?
