Go up there, ask to speak to a manager, and then tell the manager you are interested in a cashier job and want to know if they are hiring at the moment. Be as confident as possible, and don't be embarrassed if they are not! If they say no, tell them you would like to go ahead and fill out an application incase they will be in the future. That looks professional, and they will remember you when they are thinking about people to hire!

Good luck!
Reply:I would call first and ask if they say they are hiring, and if they are I would ask them what is the application process, and how you would go about applying for the job. Also ask to speak to the manager and let him/her know your name and that you really are interested in the cashier position, so even if they are not hiring at the time you can still fill out an application and your name might stick out in their mind the next time an opening does come available!
Reply:It's kind of embarrasing going in and say "I want a job," or asking the question "Are you hiring," in there face. Call and ask to see who is hiring. After that then they might give you some questions before you start. Right after that, you are going to do a resume. This means that they want to know what your experience is. For ex: ROTC, BAND, CHEERLEADER, SPORTS, Etc.
Reply:I would go there, and make sure you are dressed presentable, so that they know you are serious. Ask if you can fill out an application. That why they will see that you are serious about wanting a job. Good Luck.
Reply:Go right in and ask them. And even if they aren't hiring at the moment, go ahead and request to fill out an application. Never be embarrassed. There is no shame whatsoever in wanting to get a job. Good luck to you!
Reply:I agree with Haluai. That's the best approach. Always go in person if you are able to do that. It shows your potential employer that you're really serious and went a step further than just calling them.....good luck!
Reply:i would go in and ask (most places accept applications even if they aren't hiring)...

when you're looking to follow up, thats when you call...
Reply:Go in person and ask for the manager.
Reply:Always go in person when you can.
