What does CVS in the name CVS pharmacy stand for?

When I visited the east coast I saw those pharmacies EVERYWHERE. Yet, when I asked locals what CVS stood for, they gave me a strange look, thought about it for a while, and admitted they didn't know. Anyone know?

Should I do work study? Or should I stick with my current job as a CVS Pharmacy Clerk?

I'm not sure if I should quit my job when I go to school this fall or if I should just transfer to a different nearby CVS? I make currently 8.35 but taxes and union fees are also taken out. What should i do?

I know someone who does work study and only gets 7 an hour. But it sounds like your comfortable at cvs if I was you I would transfer.

Why does CVS always ask for my Extra Care Card when I make a purchase?

I know what the Extra Care Card is used for, but I wouldn't think that CVS wants me to save money. There's probably a twist or some hidden fee into this that I'm totally unaware of. Defunk it.

Why does CVS always ask for my Extra Care Card when I make a purchase?
it's not to save you money. the save-you-money part is to bribe you into using the card in the first place.

so why do they do it? databases and direct marketing. every time you buy something and use your (CVS, or safeway, or whatever store) card, the information about what you bought is stored and uploaded into a central database. the stores analyze this data both to look for statistical trends so they can make better advertising. people who buy flea spray also buy cat litter, for instance, so they advertise the two things together. or, people from the south like crispy taco shells whereas people from the midwest like soft taco shells, so they advertise the right product in the right place.

however, the creepiest use is that they also do direct marketing. you had to give them your address when you signed up, and they can send you ads in the mail based on your purchase history, or even sell your purchasing history information to other junk-mail companies. for this reason my friends and i would often trade the cards to confuse their software.
Reply:well, i meant real address, cos i was talking about all those garbage flyers i have to sort through every other day. i'm sure if they got ahold of your email address they'd spam you there too! Report It

Reply:Nope, far as I know, its to try to save you some money. Some places require their staff to say or do certain things %26amp; not doing so could reflect on their job performance. For instance, there is a clothing store that I go to %26amp; one of the employees (whomever is nearest the front door) has to greet the customers in a specific amount of time, also asking if there is anything they can do to help them. If they don't %26amp; it is found out, it means their job...

What is a good pharmacy other than CVS?

I live in southern California and fed up with CVS. Most of the Savons (which I preferred) got replaced with CVS. Now CVS has made too many mistakes and the wait time is ridiculous. A 15 minute wait time to have a prescription filled should not have took 5 hours!

I'm just curious what pharmacies do you like to go to.

What is a good pharmacy other than CVS?
Walgreen's is a good one to use. Plus they have national service, so if you happen to be traveling, any other Walgreen's can fill your prescriptions.
Reply:SoCal should have lots of choices; Kroger, Walmart, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and more chain stores.

There should also be a large array of independent neighborhood pharmacies, which is where I find better service....
Reply:Walgreen's, or Walmart have pretty good pharmacies...Also some clincs have a pharmacy already there.
Reply:We live in So. Cal. too %26amp; belong to Costco. Their pharmacy is very reasonable %26amp; if you call in a RX you can get it quickly %26amp; easily.
Reply:Walgreens has a good pharmacy. However, the CVS by me (NYC) has a good pharmacy so you might want to just try another CVS if you haven't already.
Reply:Walgreens and Rite-Aid.
Reply:I agree...I hate CVS...I love in NC where CVS bought out a great chain called Revco..went waaaay downhill...all of the ones I have been to have had unfriendly staff and unusually long waits...Walgreens, and Wal-Mart are good pharmacies in the large chain stores...sometimes a local chain (one here in southeastern NC call Kerr Drugs) can be wonderful as well...
Reply:Do you have Walgreen's? They're nationwide but maybe not in your area. I use them all the time but I've also used major grocery stores pharmacies from time to time. I like Walgreens best.

I passes a First Check take home Marijuana Test from CVS, does this mean I will pass my real drug test?

The test is from CVS, First Check is the brand, is this mean I dont have to worry about my real test?

I passes a First Check take home Marijuana Test from CVS, does this mean I will pass my real drug test?
The tests that they do in the lab are much more complex, and therefore can detect what a home detection kit can not. Will you pass the drug test done by professionals? Maybe, maybe not.
Reply:to be honest, I think you will be fine. I took a test from CVS (the same kind) and passed the real thing with flying colors the next day.

usually, the tests you can get at the drug store can pick up just as good as tests in the laboratory. theyre all looking for one thing- the amount of THC metabolites.
Reply:Probably, depending on some factors...

Drug tests your employers/courts do isn't rocket science to be performed by the expert few. It's essentially a measurement of metabolites of certain substances you've ingested.

Now, here's something to be pissed about: they're not 100% accurate (not even close).

They look for the amount of a metabolite being above a certain threshold, and if it is, it's flagged. Those are basic tests that can be easily fooled. This test is the most available test and can be beaten easily by drinking obscene amounts of water or cranberry juice for a few days before and upto the test.

There is a second test that is harder to defeat. This test is like the first but it measures the ratio of metabolites to a fairly constant metabolite that is regular for most people. What this does is if you flush, this comparative metabolite will be low as well as the pot metabolites being under threshold, so the test will either correct the ratio and red flag, or it will just red flag you as flushing your system if the comparative drops below a threshold. Gotta let time defeat this test...

There are other tests such as hair, blood, and mouth-swab, and other than swab being a little easier to defeat, i know not much else.

I hope I could be of some help to ya.
Reply:IDK
Reply:got it from an Eckerd pharmacist years ago that home test designed more for parent's peace of mind or user's paranoia than anything else... just a basic test that is not designed for legal levels like the real deal that employers send you for before hiring, really, would you be able to trust results from a box that has sat on shelves for who knows how long and handled by any curious shopper 24-7 and sent off to a lab you have no idea how it is run or if it's quality standards are good enough? Think on that...

Is it considered more proper to use serif fonts in CVs? Should I be using Times New Roman for mine?

I was just wondering this, because for books/published material and such, it's considered better to have the print in a serif font...... and I was wondering if the same translated to CVs XD

Also, would potential employers react better to the classic Times New Roman, or would any serif font do?

Is it considered more proper to use serif fonts in CVs? Should I be using Times New Roman for mine?
As an HR Manager with a hundred resumes on my desk, I automatically rejected those with sans serif fonts. Aren't you absessing just a little bit?

Does anyone know if CVS Products work? are they essentially the exact copy of the other products out there?

For example, I want to buy Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub, and I found a CVS version of the product that is cheaper. They look almost alike and I was wondering if anyone tried CVS stuff. Should I buy the Neutrogena brand or the CVS brand? Also, does the Neutrogena scrub work anyways?

Does anyone know if CVS Products work? are they essentially the exact copy of the other products out there?
I've worked at CVS for 5 years and I've done my share of trying our store's products. When it comes to skincare, I like to stick to the name brand, ESPECIALLY Neutrogena. It's the best! CVS products are usually hit or miss. Some are really awesome (cheese crackers!) and some are not so great. If there's a signifigant in price, I would consider trying the CVS product, but with your face... why take the chance?
Reply:When i tried buying the store brand skin care, it always made me break out really bad. i wouldn't recommend it but that's just my opinion.
Reply:just check to see if the ingredients r the same cuz it sometime says compare to the ingredients in nutrogena or whatever ( =
Reply:yea i dont know if it works... but i think the ingredients are exactly the same. I have done this also, except with the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser. It worked very well.

So i think it should be the same with the product you wanted to use. =]

Good Luck!

Last summer I bought a disposable video camera from CVS and I am now trying to find somewhere develop it?

Reply:ive seen those at CVS and here (texas) they advertise that you can just bring it back to that cvs and they will send it off to have it done. id either go back and look at their box or display where they sell them, or talk to someone who may know a little more there. Other than that, hopefully someone else has some other suggestions.

How much dos CVS pay for a sales clerk?

I've applied for a partime job at a local CVS and was wondering how much they pay? I wanted to just work at the front or develop the film. If anyone works there and can let me know that'd be great!

How much dos CVS pay for a sales clerk?
usually minimum wage...

I'm a manager... here's some advice:

Whatever they offer you, ask for much more, even more than what you'd like. They'll try and meet you in the middle. Ask for 10 or 11 dollars... you might get 9 or 9.50. From experience, the employer (CVS) is usually the deperate one who needs the employees. If you act desperate like you need the job and money, CVS has the advantage and will give you minimum wage.

The raises are very minimal!!! Usually it's only 3% a year!!!! Many employees are unhappy about that... What usually happens is that you be hired... next year you get your raise, and somebody new will be hired at a higher rate of pay than you.

Curious: what town and state CVS?
Reply:It really depends on where you are located. Some places pay "urban premium". This means that the pay include more money for being in an urban area. I hope this helps.
Reply:minimum wage up to $ 8.00 could be a little bit more, but I doubt it.

Does anyone know how much CVS pays its hourly sales associates?

I am interested in getting a part time job at CVS, so that I can pay some bills. Has anyone recently worked for CVS that would know how much they pay per an hour. Can you negotiate with them? Do you know how I can find out? I appreciate any feed back.

I have a perscription at CVS, but I want to get it refilled at Kroger because it is cheaper. How can I change

Do I need to have CVS transfer it over to Kroger or have Kroger call CVS?

I have a perscription at CVS, but I want to get it refilled at Kroger because it is cheaper. How can I change
Give the pharmacy at Kroger the prescription information for the one at CVS. Most pharmacies will call the other pharmacy and get the prescription transferred on behalf of the customer. It's usually a service offered by then in an effort to get your business.
Reply:You should go to costco. You don't have to have a costco card. Prescriptions are waaayyyyy cheap there. I had a prescription and went to CVS. I don't have insuranse and they wanted to charge me $190.00 and that was for generic stuff. I told them that was too much and I would go somewhere else. I went to costco and got the thing filled for $68.00. Hell Ya!
Reply:call Kroger, give them the CVS prescription number and phone number
Reply:Phone Kroger Pharmacy, give them the Rx#, let them take it from there.
Reply:I think once it is filled they have already charged your insurance and they won't refund it. They insurance won't pay twice either. If you are paying cash then I suggest going to CVS and letting them know the situation and ask for the prescription back. They shouldn't have a problem with that just don't let it sit too long.

Can the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy line be found anywhere besides CVS?

I live in Colorado and there are no CVS pharmacies here. I know you can buy it online but it is nearly impossible to match foundations to your skintone that way.

Can the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy line be found anywhere besides CVS?
Yes, Ulta, Duane Reade, Rite Aid and Longs. You can buy it online too.
Reply:Ulta
Reply:I just saw it at the Rite Aid across the street from my house. Let me know how it works I'm curious. Also try wallgreens. They usually have a very large cosmetics department. Larger the cvs usually. Hope this helps!

Why does CVS automatically give me generic drugs when my doctor writes the brand name on the prescription?

Please spare me the talk about generics=brand. I know they can differ quite a bit and I've done a lot of personal research on this.

I was just wondering why CVS does this.

I should also note that my insurance covers both brand and generic in most cases. They both = $0 for me.

Why does CVS automatically give me generic drugs when my doctor writes the brand name on the prescription?
unless the doctor writes DAW in the box on the prescription, the pharmacy HAS to give you a generic if it is available. If you have the same co-pay either way and prefer brand names, make sure the doctor writes DAW on the prescription
Reply:In the US it is law to give the generic unless the script specifically says brand name required (or the latin medically correct translation). Also, the insurance will not pay for the brand name unless the doc specifically requests, so it really doesnt cost 0 for you either way. And no, your insurance most likely does NOT cover the brand unless it is specifically requested or no generic is available.
Reply:Because pharmacy's just always give the generic drug because its usually always cheaper. If you don't want the generic your doctor would have to write "no substitutions" on the prescription.

What is the best way to apply/get hired at CVS/Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician?

I'm 16 years old and a junior in the International Baccalaureate program (it is known for its incredibly rigorous curriculum).

I applied to be a pharmacy technician online for CVS/Pharmacy and then went into the store I am hoping to be hired at and filled out the application again.

As untrained and still in high school, are my chances of receiving the job slim? I read that CVS/Pharmacy is a company that provides room for growth; does that mean they are willing to hire fresh faces and train them from the start? What should I do next to promote my chances, if there is anything to do at all?

Thanks!

What is the best way to apply/get hired at CVS/Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician?
To be a pharmacy tech you need to go through school first. Which is usually a Technical type school
Reply:they can't hire you and train you for pharmacy tech you have to go to technical school program is usually a year
Reply:Pharmacy technicians at CVS are usually students at a local college or career center program. I think you may also need to be at least 18 to work with medicine or have access to them but I may just be assuming that. Cashiering is a good place to start with no prior experience or training.

How much does it cost to develop digital pictures at CVS?

I need to develop a lot of digital pictures at CVS this summer (no internet connection where I'll be, so sending them off online won't work), and I need to know how much it will cost. What is their deal with pricing?

How much does it cost to develop digital pictures at CVS?
http://cvs.pnimedia.com/help_panel/help/...
Reply:CVS offers the following options for printing pictures:

"In seconds": The prints cost 29 cents each, and begin printing at the kiosk as soon as you complete your order.

"In hours": These prints cost 25cents each, OR 19 cents IF you print 50 or more prints. Depending on how many pictures you send through, and how busy the photo lab is it can take from 15minutes to 1 hour to finish printing.

"In Days": These prints cost 15 cents each, and require your digital media to be sent out to kodak for printing. It takes 3-4 business days for your prints and media to be returned to store. CVS is not liable for any damage to your digital media in the process.

CVS has a summer promotion going on right now if you use an Extra Care card. Print 50 digital prints, and purchase them, and you will recieve a coupon for 20 free prints. This coupon prints on receipt immediatly after purchaseing the initial 50 prints. I highly suggest splitting your order up if you plan on printing more than 50- Print the first 50, get your coupon, then print the rest.
Reply:Its 29 cents for instant printing...19 cents for 1 hour printing..and 15 cents for printing in days. You can bring your memory card USB or Cd..or your digital film if you'd like.

And also they are starting this new thing were if you print 50 pictures you get 20 free pictures and it is just for the summer so print alot. But you have to have your extra care card.
Reply:29 cents for each 4X6 print.
Reply:yeah ima go there today thnks for the notice.. i need to print 20 for my AP class

What is the CVS Game and how do you play it?

CVS is a drug store chain and there seems to be a coupon game out there. I want to learn more about it.

What is the CVS Game and how do you play it?
Im not sure about any CVS game. Maybe your game is local? I dont have a game at mine. Try going to the CVS website and looking up info there.
